Ideas for a Chemo Care Package
This week, I was talking to my sister on the phone, and she was telling me about her day. She had just arrived home from spending several hours at the hospital with her friend, Lisa, who was having a procedure to prepare for her upcoming chemotherapy treatments. We talked for a while about how hard it is to watch a friend face this terrible and all too frequent battle.
Later that evening while Lisa was still on my mind, I came across the blog, Life as a Survivor. On her blog, Diane candidly shares her personal struggle with the sickness that resulted from her chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer.
Not only does Diane share her story, but she provides a detailed description of what she considers to be the essential contents of a "Chemo Care Package". I don't know about you, but I value this type of information. I love when someone who has walked a difficult road shares her experience, so that we can benefit as we care for ourselves and our friends.

Diane's suggestions for a fabulous Chemo Care Package are:
- Lemon drops
- Disposable toothbrushes
- Bottled water
- Lotion
- Hand sanitizer
- Journal/pen
- A special sweet treat
Be sure to see Diane's blog to read more about why these are helpful items to include in your Chemo Care Package. If you don't have a friend who can use a Care Package right now, she suggests making a Care Package and taking it to your local oncology center to be given to someone who may not have a local support system of friends and family.
