Crock Pot Apple Sauce
I find it extremely difficult to say farewell to summer, so I often don't start cooking autumn dishes until mid-October or later. I will always prefer a glass of iced tea over a pumpkin spice latte. The one exception to my avoidance of all things "fall" is this recipe. Crock Pot Applesauce is a favorite in our household and I'm forever grateful to Janelle Paris for sharing it with us. ~ Adina
Who would have thought that making homemade applesauce was so easy? I have had numerous people tell me that after making this recipe, they vow never to buy store-bought again! I can't say that will happen for sure... but I can say, this will probably be added to your "must make" fall recipes each year! What child wouldn't want to come home from a long day at school to the smell of homemade applesauce?
* This is the perfect gift to give someone who needs a a pick-me-up in the fall season (no pun intended).

Fresh Gala apples from the Orchard.

Peel like so...

Core and slice...

Chop into small chunks...

Place apples in the Crockpot with 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar.

Turn on high for 4 hours and this is what it will look like. You may choose to leave it "chunky" or you may like yours smooth.

If you make yours smooth, simply use a hand held emersion blender...you can blend right in the crockpot.

Mmmm....
