Notes from Christina Miyake:
Baby Yana has arrived! Johanna, Kushal, and big sister Maya are incredibly overjoyed as they enter this new stage of their lives as a family of four.

As you can imagine, the first few weeks after bringing a newborn home can be both exciting and challenging. With a growing family and all the demands that come with a newborn, preparing meals can often become a challenge. This is where our help and support can make a significant difference.

We invite you to consider participating in this meal train for Johanna and Kushal and their growing family, especially as Johanna continues to rest and heal. A delicious home-cooked meal will not only nourish them but also provide love and comfort during this transition.

Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated.

Please read the following notes before selecting a date below:

MEAL PREPARATION / DIETARY RESTRICTIONS:

1. The Bhatia family would be very grateful to receive food for one dinner meal (enough for 2 adults and one toddler) or a bulk amount that can be frozen and eaten for a few meals.

2. Please avoid preparing anything that includes beef, pork, corn, tofu, or dairy. Chicken and vegetables are great options.

3. Warm, nutrient-dense foods such as stews and soups are preferred to help support Johanna's postpartum healing. For some ideas, feel free to reference the recipe index from the book "The First Forty Days: The Essential Art of Nourishing the New Mother." The link is posted below this section.

4. When you select a date, please indicate in the form what kind of meal you will be preparing to ensure a variety of dishes and avoid excessive overlaps. If you are unsure at the time of choosing the date, you may select the date first and then go back at any time to fill in the meal.

5. Please consider packaging the food in disposable containers or containers that don't need to be returned.

OPTIONS FOR FOOD DELIVERY

Option 1. On the designated day, kindly deliver the meal to their home in New Jersey. Please text Johanna (703-407-7243) ahead of time to let her know what time you plan to drop off the food.

Note: While we understand the excitement and desire to meet the new addition to their family, we kindly ask that you refrain from visiting when you drop off the meal. We wish to allow the family to prioritize rest, bonding time, and adjusting to their new family dynamic. Please send Johanna a text once you have dropped off the food at their door.

Option 2: Taeko Lay, Johanna's mother, visits the Bhatia family every Tuesday and Thursday. If it's more convenient, you can arrange to drop off the meal to Taeko, who will bring it with her when she visits them. Please contact Taeko (703-405-4635) to coordinate a drop-off time (ex. at Sunday service). If you choose this option, we ask that the meal be something that can be easily frozen.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you again for your support! Your home-cooked meal will bring nourishment and care to the Bhatia family during this busy and joyous period. As we all know, food is love :)
