COVID-19 INFORMATION

In a continuing effort to reduce the potential for exposure to the COVID-19 virus for the families we that serve, our volunteers, and our staff, we are making an adjustment to our Meals that Mend program. PLEASE REVIEW THIS UPDATED INFORMATION and call Heather at 719-471-1814 with any questions.

GREAT NEWS! We have REOPENED our kitchen for on-site volunteer meal preparations on a DAILY BASIS!

> ON-SITE preparation is now OPEN 7 NIGHTS/WEEK (Monday through Sunday)

> GROUP SIZE continues to be LIMITED to no more than 3 PEOPLE/DAY

> All participants MUST wear FACE COVERINGS, GLOVES, AND CLOSED-TOE SHOES while working with food in our kitchen.

> WASH YOUR HANDS before, during, and after preparing food

> OUR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE our guest families starting at 6:00 PM. At this time we are unable to invite you to participate in this portion of our meals program.

If you are unable to come to the House, you may choose one of the following options to continue to support our families:

>Order a meal from a local restaurant for delivery (5:30-5:45 PM delivery, please)

>Drop off a meal that has been prepared in a commercial kitchen (i.e., grocery or restaurant). We cannot accept any homemade foods. Please plan your drop off to allow enough time for our staff and volunteers to complete the prep work so that dinner will be ready by 6:00 PM.

>Drop off a gift card to a grocery or restaurant that we may use to provide meals for our families.

As a Meals that Mend volunteer, you will be helping our families during a very difficult time in their lives. You can come together with friends, family, or co-workers to provide a comforting, home-cooked meal for our families. You will make a difference! Below are requirements and additional information for you as you plan your meal.

MENU PLANNING: You will need to provide your MENU when you sign up. A LIST OF INGREDIENTS will be requested from you by your meal date.

> The expenses of the meal and drinks are your responsibility.

> Providing drinks is optional, but appreciated. NO Alcohol is allowed for cooking or for consumption.

> Individual packaging is appreciated but not necessary. Anything that can be stored and reheated is best.

> Please include a protein, starch, and vegetable with your meal.

> In the interest of breastfeeding moms, please AVOID SPICY DISHES. You may provide spicy ingredients like jalapenos, cayenne pepper, hot sauce, etc., on the side for those that wish to add them.

> Please take note of other meals being served within a week of your date to AVOID DUPLICATIONS.

> The number of guests will vary from day to day. On average, we serve 35 people each night. A better estimate will be provided to you 3-5 days in advance of your meal date.

DIETARY RESTRICTIONS: You MUST provide a list of ingredients used in your meal.

> Some house guests may have food allergies or sensitivities. It is therefore important that we provide a list of ingredients for them so that they know whether or not they may enjoy your meal (or leftovers).

> Please feel free to call the house the day of your meal for an updated list of food allergies or sensitivities. You may also check the chalkboard inside the pantry when you arrive on your meal date for updates.

> It is not necessary for you to adjust your menu, but we want families to make informed decisions before they enjoy your meal.

FOOD SAFETY: We must follow Food Safety Standards set by Ronald McDonald House Charities.

> ALL food must be prepared in a licensed retail food kitchen (store, deli, restaurant).

> We cannot accept any homemade foods.

> You will receive a confirmation email (Subject: Thanks for Signing Up!)

> Contact Heather by phone (719-471-1814) or email (heather@rmhcsoutherncolorado.org) if you need to change or cancel your scheduled meal.

> You will receive an automated email 5 days prior to your meal date (Subject: Meal Reminder: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado) reminding you of your meal date.

> Heather will follow up with final details, including an estimated head count and dietary restrictions.

> Please contact Heather at least 24 hours in advance if you are not able to meet your scheduled meal date.
